All's Fair in Physics

Ever considered the phenomenon of magnets and how they work. The idea is that the opposite ends will always connect and that although it seems more logical, two like ends will never touch without extreme force. In the event that two ends that aren't meant to connect, do in fact connect, it certainly won't last and causes both driving forces an over exertion of power that could be expended on more valuable occurrences. Oh and don't think for a second that you can expose connecting ends to one another and expect them not to connect. A separating object can literally be placed between those two ends and without fail, they will close the space between them. But this is something we all knew through experience right? Even though we know how they work, time after time we try to force ends together that just don't fit, and we try to pull and pull connections apart for no apparent reason. This is nothing new, but the kicker is that this magnetic dynamic applies to people too.
