Two Out of Five
"TAXI!" I belted out as the driver came to a screeching halt all but crashing into the point of my camel pumps. I had to get out of there. There was nothing I could do but to flee from this place. He knew it, as well as I did. Well at least I hoped so. I hoped that he understood that I could not bear to stand in this feeling for a second longer without being selfish. If I was to linger in this moment, with him, for anything longer than what felt like an appropriate goodbye, I'd never let go. I would holster this feeling with the safety on to ensure that I could safeguard it and protect it from those who have recently tried to use and abuse my spirit. His being made sense to me, but not in a way that I had comprehended before. His gentleness was a mystery to me; it was full of a certain strength that I had never experienced before! For that reason, I knew I didn't have the courage to look into his brown eyes for even another modicum of time. So, I blinked. And then just like a passing dream in the night, he was gone.
